Barnsley Mountaineering Club was founded on
2nd February 1946 at a time when many similar clubs were being
set up around the country. The Barnsley Club however has outlived many of
these clubs and continues to draw on a wide membership not only from
Barnsley and Sheffield but also across the North of England. Meets are
held once a month in all mountain areas for walking, climbing and skiing.
